Daniela Failla: "Departures"

Date: Monday May 6, 2019 through Friday May 31, 2019.
Time: All Day Event
Location: Bunker Center for the Arts
Address: 1014 E, 19th St
Category: Arts / Exhibits
Daniela Failla has brought one of the most engaging shows this curator has ever seen. A truly great story mixes both comedy and tragedy: each element enhanced by its opposite. Failla accomplishes this feat by juxtaposing two installations in our south east galleries. One gallery will leave you faced with a painful dramatic interpretation of our collective shame as nature's destructors. The adjoining room takes you by the hand and returns you to the innocence of childhood with an adult-sized recreation of an interactive icon of our generation. Both are brilliant. Both are reliant on each other, yet completely independent. Both are made of recycled materials. Both are fresh and new. That's only half the show. The paintings filling other two galleries stand as a testament to Failla's life and discipline. This exhibition will be available to the public through the month of May. Gallery hours are Thursday through Saturday 12 to 6 p.m. and by appointment.
