Kansas City is renowned worldwide for its rich jazz heritage that’s kept alive and moved forward by the likes of Max Groove, a pioneer of smooth jazz. Join us at Chaz to see why Max was named a Missouri State Jazz Treasure. As a recording artist, he has had three albums/CDs in the Top 20 Billboard Jazz charts. As a performer, has toured with the likes of Count Basie, Kool & the Gang, Temptations and Four Tops to name a few. He is considered a living jazz legend in the city where jazz grew up.

Duck Warner and Joe Cartwright are both veteran Kansas City jazz musicians. Their sound highlights the traditional Kansas City jazz sound – but they also reach out of the genre to cover contemporary and classic R & B and pop tunes. Duck’s rich baritone voice earned him Kansas City’s best male vocalist title three years in a row. Joe is a classically trained pianist well-known locally for his versatility as a jazz performer. Both have performed for international audiences and are highly appreciated by their hometown audiences.

Les Mengel Duo consists of two brothers who are among the top Classical musicians in the Kansas City, Missouri area and both appear as members of many local community orchestras. This summer they will appear regularly at the Raphael Hotel Music series at the Chaz Lounge. Come and enjoy this performance!

Cavern Club formed out of a fascination with the great catalog of Beatles music and the desire to keep Beatles music alive in a live setting. The group continues to perform some of the greatest pop music of the past century in an unplugged, intimate atmosphere at Chaz Lounge – the kind of venue where the Beatles manager Brian Epstein discovered them, in Liverpool’s famed Cavern Club.
