The Kansas City Wizards are the premier soccer club in the Midwest and a great attraction for the sports lovers of the region. Founded in 1996 as a charter member of Major League Soccer, the Wizards have been entertaining the people of Kansas City and the entire Midwest ever since.
Rich with tradition, the Wizards have already captured two major championships. In 2000, Kansas City won the MLS Cup, defeating the Chicago Fire 1-0 for the organization’s first piece of major hardware. Also in 2000, the squad won the Supporters’ Shield trophy given to the team with the best regular-season record in MLS. In 2004, Kansas City captured the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, again defeating the Chicago Fire 1-0 in the finals.
This will be the second season with a new coaching staff, new management and a new brand of exciting, attacking soccer. The Wizards were bought in August 2007 by local group OnGoal, LLC.
